A Solemn Day

Today was spent remembering December 7, 1941. After arriving in Honolulu at 6:00 am, I took an excursion to the Air Force base on Ford Island which was one of the first areas hit during the Japanese attack. From the air tower, we had a wonderful view of Pearl Harbor which shelters the USS Missouri. The deck of the ship was used as the site where the war with Japan ended with the surrender of the Japanese. Next to the tower, was one of the old hangers used by the Air Corp. We received a guided tour of the old hanger that houses planes from the WWII era.

We ended the day with a visit to the Missouri to get an up close and personal look.

We owe all of the veterans that have served our country and especially those who served during WWII, known as our greatest generation, our continued gratitude for all of the freedoms and liberties that we enjoy today.

Cheers and good night Joey
