Second day in Darwin

Today was a full of excursions designed to understand the history of Darwin. One stop was the area of East Point Military Reserve which served as a defensive position during WW II. From this point, they constructed a net to extend to the other point at the entrance of the bay to prevent Japanese submarines from entering the bay.

One of the remaining bunker encampments.
The protective netting extended from the nearest point to the point jutting out on the other side of the opening to the bay.
This is for Joey. See Joe, some of your favorite animals lives in Australia too.

Next stop was The Museum and Art Gallery of the North Territory. The best areas provided videos of Aboriginal people explaining their approach to their art. Fascinating. They also had an exhibit explaining the devastation of the cyclone that hit Darwin in 1974.

Finally, we visited the Darwin Botanical Garden. It was so hot and humid that I didn’t go too far. Enjoy some of the sights.

I was so ready to jump into this fountain

Cheers and good night Joey
