Bali

And we are here

Lots was done yesterday. It started at the pier with a dancing reception.

We then drove for about 45 minutes to one of Bali’s previous capitals in Kampung Singaraja. Each of eight regions of the country has a Royal family. The following pictures are from this area’s old Royal Palace.

Royal temple. Hindu is the predominate religion of Bali meaning that each residence has a temple. They are currently celebrating a religious holiday and throughout Bali statutes have been covered with skirts and umbrellas.
The new palace is not accessible by the public.

We then visited a local downtown marketplace.

Most shoppers visit the market every day for fresh produce.
Spices and nuts abound.

Although Hindu is the primary religion, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism is practiced. This Chinese temple has been active since the late 1800s.

At this point in the day, we were all hot and hungry. The temperature is reaching a high of 87 degrees with 97% humidity. I am having a little problem acclimating. Anyway, we had a late lunch at a beautiful resort(forgot the name) that provided a great buffet and what appeared to be high end accommodations.

At this writing, I have decided to skip a day of activities. It is still a little uncomfortable. Tomorrow more excursions so stay tuned.
