Hiroshima

We arrived in Hiroshima early with an excursion to the island of Miyajima. A 10 minute ferry ride brought us next to the often pictured O- Torii Gate. The town was small and taken up with large areas devoted to the Itsukushima Shrine which was first built in 503. We left the rain in Kobe helping our visit to Miyajima to be beautiful and sunny. Miyajima has been worshipped as a divine island since ancient times.

O-Torii Gate which appears to float on the water.
Walkway from the ferry to the Shrine.
A wedding taking place in the Shrine.
Cartons of sake that are given to the Shrine.
Shrine complex.
Five-storied Pagoda.
Look what showed up. These deer are considered special creatures.

It was a magical day. Loved it.

Cheers and good night Joey.
