Kuala Lumpur

This capital city hosts over 3 million people. The port in Klang was a 1 1/2 hour drive into the city. We primarily had photo and shopping opportunities. No temples or museums. Slightly disappointing but very relaxing.

View from the bus into the city
The National Mosque
1800s British building that serves as the train depot today
Across from the train depot is similar architecture. This building has limited use.
The old followed by the new
Independence Square where the transition from British rule to home rule took place in the 1950s
One side of the square still has the cricket club.
Another side of the square has the city library.
The dedication to the first Malaysian ruler, Sultan Abdul Samad

Malaysia has a parliamentary system of government but also recognizes the authority of each local Sultan. Every 5 years a different Sultan rotates to serve as the head of the country.

We were taking to Chinatown to shop. After Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai, it just couldn’t compete.
These twin tower were built 20 years ago and have become a symbol of the city.
Malaysia helps to sponsor Formula 1 racing. I believe they sponsor Lewis Hamilton.
Lower levels of the towers are dedicated to high- end shopping.

It was nice to see the city which is clean with lots of new high rises going up.

Cheers and good night Joey.
