Cape Town, South Africa

Today we had another WOW event outside the city of Cape Town. The Mistico Equestrian Center hosted those of us on the world cruise. The center breeds and trains Lipizzaner horses. They were originally found in Germany but the survival of these horses was at risk during WW II. Efforts by U.S. troops with those from Austria helped to eventually transport these horses to Africa. Durban became their first African home. They were transferred to the Cape Town area and made it their final home.

Welcoming celebration

The horses and their trainers provided an hours program as they went through their maneuvers.

Prior to the performance.
The first act included these three horses.
It is a tremendous effort on the part of the horse to jump off its back hooves.
It is even harder to have them lift up their front legs and balance on their back legs.
We had a chance to feed this beautifully talented horse.

We were offered lunch with musical entertainment.

Traveling to and from the event gave us an opportunity to see some of the areas around Cape Town

Table top mountain.
View of the city skyline from the ship.

It is with great regret that I was unable to explore this modern vibrant city. Another place to revisit.

Cheers and good night Joey.

  1. Interesting menu. This trip is like a taster.  Now you can decide where to revisit.
