Busan, Republic of Korea

Another day another port. Lots of changes to the schedule. Today we are in Busan.

The first impression is the overwhelming number of skyscrapers both office and residential. We visited a number of different areas and in all of them we saw relatively new buildings. They need the space to house the 3.4 million people living between mountainous areas.

Our first stop was Haeundae Dongbaekseom Island. The name signifies the abundance of camellia plants growing there. Currently, cherry blossoms are blooming. Choi Chi-won is believed to have visited the area and is memorialized there.

More recently, APEC held their international meeting in the large conference facility built especially for the event.

It was then time for a quick lunch and onto the Yongkung Temple which is built on one of many hills in the area.

We left the temple and headed for a huge fish market and shopping area in downtown Busan.

We had a very colorful send off.

Joey, you got so close to getting a little brother.

Cheers and good night Joey
