Second day in Shanghai

An early morning excursion was scheduled for the Water Town of Zhuziajaio which took several hours to get to because of heavy traffic. This was the beginning of a three day national holiday that is meant to celebrate family heritage. The celebration includes leaving the city to visit rural family gravesites. Hence the traffic.

Along the freeway
Always time to get in some practice.

The Water Town is considered the Venice of China. It doesn’t have a large Piazza but it has canals and lots of vendors and tiny shops.

We returned to the ship and after some lunch I decided to return to the downtown market. A city of 25 million people with a holiday might portend a crowded atmosphere. Yes it was.

One of the main streets in Shanghai. I fit right in and had a great time.
The Bund is a promenade that borders the river with beautiful gardens and has vendors. It is a remnant from the British and French periods. The walkway provides an enjoyable stroll and we were fortunate to have our port next to it.

We leave Shanghai today and head for Hong Kong. This is such a great city with lots to see and do.
