Ha Long-Hanoi Vietnam

We arrived in Ha Long in the mist.

A picture of the beauty of the area.

Here is our misty arrival.

Port of Ha Long

After our arrival, we took a 2 hour drive into Hanoi. Our first stop was the downtown prison that held our POWs during our involvement in the Vietnam War. It was very emotional.

We then went to the Learning Temple which is dedicated to the teaching of Confucius. We were lucky to have a number of kindergartners that were celebrating their graduation to first grade.

Okay now the Temple and its surroundings.

Next lunch.

Beef soup
Chicken and egg rolls
Watermelon, pineapple and jak fruit
Vietnam beer

We then headed on a walk through some of the market area in the city.

And then there were the mopeds.

And the street vendors.

Ho Chi Minh is greatly revered. Under his leadership, the French Government was replaced with his communist regime and previous buildings occupied by Father Ho and the communist party members.

The house that was used by him and within walking distance of the office building.

One last stop in Hanoi was to a silk embroidery shop. Just beautiful work.

On the way back on the road to HaLong we past the University of Vietnam.

And then a stop at a pearl farm.

Finally, a long but fascinating day gets us back to our port for the night.

Cheers and good night Joey.

  1. Loved Vietnam. Loved the food and all the sights. Did you buy silk or pearls? Will you visit the coo-chi tunnels?  A place Ken and I would revisit.  Enjoy!!
