Ha Long

Today we enjoyed a slower pace that included meditation at a Zen Buddha Monastery and a visit with a local family.

It took about 2 hours to drive to the Monastery on the most beautiful road in Vietnam (per our guide). The trip was along the shoreline looking out at the variety of rock formations known as the Cu Lao Cham-Hoi archipelago and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fishing community.
Interesting flamingo and leaf sculptures.

We arrived at the Truc Lam Glac Monastery. After a stroll around the temple and complex, our guide led us through a session of meditation.

Within 15 minutes, we visited a local family who provided tea, sweet potatoes and ginger wine. It was a very refreshing stop.

Our host
Delicious sweet potato.
They had several birds.

We left this beautiful area of the country and look forward to several more ports in Vietnam.

Cheers and good night Joey.
