We seldom port near the center of a city. Bangkok was no exception. It took about 30-40 minutes to get to anything that might be considered the city center.

We left at 3:00 pm which required a quick morning excursion to the Royal Palace and the Jade Buddha Temple.

If you have ever seen play The King and I, this is the kingdom that was used as the basis for that story. The guide referred to the Palace grounds and buildings as the second largest Royal complex in the world. It is definitely impressive.

There were scattered temples around the area.

The Jade Buddha has a very ornate temple. The Buddha is very small in comparison to others that we have seen. Again, we were not allowed to take a photo.

There were sculptures and gardens that led to the Palace.

Now the Palace that no longer serves as a residence but is used for formal events.

We made one last stop at a shop that specializes in gems.

A couple of final images.

Sadly, I only had a few hours to enjoy Bangkok. Good reason to return.
Cheers and good night Joey.
It’s a shame you only had a few hours there. It’s a beautiful interesting city. But you are getting small tastes to help you decide if you want to go back for a full meal😁

Our first stop on our trip was Bangkok and it was 96 degrees with about 90% humidity…..it must be very hot for you. I love reading your daily blog about your trip—I think you must be a little over 1/2 way by now.
