We are quickly coming to the end of our journey. Our singing group gave its last of four performances. After a late day arrival, we enjoyed our last WOW event. In spite of looking forward to returning home and Joey, the sadness of leaving these friends has started to settle in. However, the last segment has some new and exciting opportunities.

We were entertained with a concert by Mariza. She is a popular performer that highlights the Fado form of music in her concerts. Even though she sang only in Portuguese, she was so engaging that I thought the concert was great.

I took the historic Lisbon tour that started on one of the seven hills of Lisbon. We drove to the Belem district to see the original port that was used by the Portuguese explorers as they sailed away and returned to the city.

The maritime museum was located in a part of the Monastery that dates back to the 1500s and was used by the local royalty.

From the Belem Quarter, we went to the Alfama Quarter and started a walk back to the ship.

Some other images from this fun city.

What a great city. The day couldn’t have been better.
Cheers and good night Joey.
Glad you got to see Lisbon! I could be an exPat there easily. Best food ever and most friendly people. 2 hour train ride south gets you to the Algarve and beach country, 2 hours north you are in Porto, a fascinating river town. Enjoy your last days on board!

Great! There is a famous bookstore in Porto….the town that is supposed to be the inspiration for Harry Potter series. Enjoy!

so glad you are seeing Lisbon. One of my favourite places. We were there again this last March. Had fresh sea bass in a side street and some delicious wine with it. Such a nice city. Very comfortable there!
