Bordeaux, France

The wine museum of Bordeaux.
Meandering down the river and passing farms and vineyards.

We were scheduled to port in Bordeaux but were directed to a port 30 minutes from the town because of a festival.

A very unique port.

We got into town to take a walking tour of the town of Bordeaux. Very walkable city which has a history dating back to the Romans.

We started at the Saint Andre Cathedral. It took three hundred years to finish the building. During that time, architecture changed. Consequently, the cathedral has many different period features.
This was one of the sites that pilgrims used to start their journey to Santiago de Compostela.
This model helped to understand the location of the church relative to the plaza and other surrounding buildings of the 1800s.
Old bishop residence that now serves as city administrative buildings and is on one end of the cathedral plaza.
Bell Tower

Wandering the city took us past other churches and well known structures.

Typical street.

At one time this building served as the Kings residence.
Walkway near the river.

I returned to the ship in time to change for a wine and dinner party at Chateau du Tertre which was designated a Grand Cru Classe in 1855. I forgot my phone which left me with a lack of pictures. The following are from their pamphlet.

The evening was wonderful with food and wine on the terrace and the multi-course in the dining room. Perfect ending to a perfect day.

Cheers and good night Joey.
